Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs Party Ideas
Our youngest child loves this movie! It was so fun to create Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs party ideas for many of the foodimals (food animals) in the movie and create them in the kitchen. We chose several of our favorites including:
Cheese Spiders
The Cheese Spiders were a creation that included orange candy melt cheese webs and cookies made with Vanilla Wafers and sesame seeds, chocolate creme filling from Oreos, tinted shredded coconut for lettuce, and yellow and red candy melt for tomato and cheese.
Spaghetti Meatballs Cake Pops
We found inspiration for our meatball cake pops on Pinterest and gave them our own twist. The meatballs are oversized pops which we inserted forks into for easier consumption. We covered them with three colors of candy melt for the meat, noodle and marinara likeness.
Marshmallows
If you want to get your kids involved in the party food prep, these marshmallows are a perfect way. We used large campfire marshmallows and drew on faces with a food coloring pen. Simple, fast and fun for our son!
Crab Cakes
As an overachiever in the kitchen, I planned to make the "Crab Cakes" character as the birthday cake. Of course given my time constraints, that did not work out. I'm glad I used the extra cake batter to make cupcakes, because they were ready as the backup plan! My cake slumped and fell into a mess and looked NOTHING like a crab, or even a cake.
Tacodile Supreme Cookies
Tacodile Supreme Ingredients
Our favorite foodimal is the Tacodile Supreme. We made miniature taco like cookies again with inspiration from Pinterest, using golden Oreos for the shells, chocolate Oreo creme and crumbs for the meat, golden Oreo creme for the sour cream, tinted coconut in yellow and green for lettuce and cheese, and cherry sours for tomatoes.
"Barry" Cake Pops from EZ Favors Lollipop Shop
The most adorable character in the movie is by far "Barry" the strawberry and we thought he would be perfect as a cake pop. With limited time however we wanted to make sure they were super cute and not rushed, so we ordered them from EZ Favors Lollipop Shop, and she did a great job!
Chester V's Food Bars
The villain in the story, Chester V, plans to turn all the foodimals into Food Bars, so we had to incorporate that part of the story too! We made simple rice krispy treats with sprinkles and some homemade wrappers to represent that part of the movie. Who doesn't love krispy treats?
Chalkboard Sign Art
We borrowed our son's chalkboard easel and used it to welcome our guests in to the party.
We found some great striped treat bags in the dollar section at Michaels and used them to hold "Steve's Gummy Bears" and gave them away as take home treats.
We printed and hung meatballs from the light fixture along with a group of white balloons to signify clouds so that it was "raining meatballs" over the table.
